Busy times: Festival of Quilts and new Workshops

'Summer time - and the livin is easy' - so goes the song. But its not here - its busy busy busy! I've just got back from Festival of Quilts, where I had a stand for the first time in 4 years. And it was fantastic

The stand looked gorgeous (after a few minor mishaps, like losing all the furniture fittings!) and the team I had this year were just brilliant - I couldn't have asked for more from them

Left to right as we are looking: Gina, Jill, me, Dee and Lesley - the A team (I need a heart emoji in there)

We also did some good socialising in the evenings, and met up with a group of my students from Denmark.

Left to right as we are looking: Tina, Karen, Jill, me, Dee, Gina, Lesley and Silvana. Meeting these girls was a real highlight for me.

Also a highlight was meeting up with many of my students, both on my stand, and for a get together on Friday afternoon in Wetherspoons

Such a happy met up, and great for us all to meet people we have known online for a few years, but not met in person.

Meeting up with people is so precious, and even more so after Covid lockdowns. For me it felt like being plugged back into my world at last

Of course the show was heaving with inspiration and beautiful work, in the galleries and competitions. I photographed so many, its going to take a few blogs to share them all. And I will do that. But for now -this was my favourite in the show:

By Joe Cunningham and called 'Under the Ice' it was part of his gallery at the show. About 6ft square, it truly stopped me in my tracks. Click on the quilt to visit his website. - you are in for a treat

But right now I want to tell you about new online courses hitting the ground in the next few weeks. The first one is Breaking the Boundaries with Breakdown Printing, which starts on 4 September 2023. Click on either image below for more details and booking etc ( I know - I'm getting sooo clever with these links!!)

This is a third run of this course, as its been so popular. I use breakdown in very much my own way - and just love the results. So I'm going to let them speak for themselves now - and hope I can tempt some of you to come and join in this time. More images from the show, and more new workshops in next blog

Enjoy some beautiful breakdown cloths- Hilary xx
